Destratification Fans
Save money on winter heating and summer cooling using Destratification fans
What is a destratification fan?
A Destratification fan is a ventilation device that is suspended from the ceiling of a commercial or industrial building. Two main purposes are to achieve energy savings and provide a comfortable environment for occupants in a building. This is done by circulating air from the ceiling to floor level, as a result this reduces the temperature difference between the highest and lowest points and creating an even temperature distribution.
To combat the problem of thermal stratification (rising heat), KAST have a range of destratification fans that balance temperatures inside your building. Our systems significantly reduce the operating times and workload required of heating and cooling systems.
Perfectly suited for
- Industrial and Commercial
- Agriculture
- Fitness Centres
- Manufacturing
- Warehouse and Distribution
- Airport and Aircraft hangers
- Shopping Centres
Destratification – Winter Heating Energy Savings
All large open buildings and warehouses face the same problem, heating staff and customers is expensive. Warm air rises in a process called thermal stratification. With normal air heating, air rises to the roof by convection in high buildings.
For each meter gained in height, the temperature rises by between 1.2° C and 1.6° C, as a result a 10-meter-high building could have a 16° C difference between floor and ceiling, a huge waste of energy and money.
Destratification fans or Industrial Ceiling fans save money by balancing the difference in temperature between ceiling and floor.
Destratification – Summer Cooling Energy Savings
Destratification fans in the summer can be used to encourage evaporative cooling by speeding the flow up over your skin and can also help air conditioning systems reduce their run time by up to 50% dramatically saving money When used with air conditioning or evaporative cooling systems, our destratification fans and ceiling fans efficiently circulate cooled air throughout the structure Destratification fans continuously mix incoming fresh air with stale air, as a result, improving the environment. No other air handling system does this more effectively. The slow-moving fan blades circulate huge quantities of air with a non-disruptive, but highly effective flow pattern. Airborne contaminants such as smoke and fumes are pushed away from the floor, reducing the adverse effects that poor air quality can have on people, as well as equipment and products.
