The awarding of this project was of an extremely rushed nature, the client had been let down by another demolition contractor and GSS had to provide a quote and be on site within a week. This was only further complicated as we had 21 days to complete this project. These 21 days started on December 13th, meaning GSS operative where on site 7 days a week working 12-hour days over the Christmas period only taking Christmas Day for themselves and their family.
The waste removal on this project was of an extreme nature, having the property located on the 2nd floor and without a lift it was clear that most of the interior blockwork walls which made up 90% of all walls within the project, would have to be moved by hand, downstairs to be loaded into our 20yd RORO at the bottom.
Faced with this momentous task, GSS operatives along with the management team on site pulled together and made sure that each day 20yd RORO was filled on a Wait & Load time frame. We did this every day for 7 days, filling the skip by hand with an average weight of 19 Tonnes per skip.
Without this hard work a ferocious dedication, the client’s timeline would have been seriously compromised, delaying other trades and the overall delivery date of the project.
The outstanding hard work of all the men on site combined with the fast-acting project planning team made sure that every aspect of this project was planned and executed to the highest of quality.
This project was one of our trial sites for our Metal Buy Back Scheme, in which the sales of the scrap metal are documented and either returned to the client or the sum deducted from our invoice. This scheme is now in place across all GSS Projects and has seen a fantastic reception from our clients.
