Amazon BHX2

Winning multiple Amazon Projects was the highlight of our year. Amazon BHX2 Fulfilment centre was especially challenging since this was a live site for the client. Having our work areas spread over 3 separate locations within the warehouse meant that we where constantly having to adapt our workflow and plans to prevent hindering our clients continually evolving work schedule. Amazon BHX2 fulfilment centre is charged with fulfilling customer orders, Amazon warehouses not only store products but also serve as distribution centres where associates pick, pack, and ship orders quickly and efficiently. Amazon robotics, scanning machines, and computer systems in BHX2 can track millions of items in a day. 

Mezzanine floor removal – Located at the most northern end of the BHX2 warehouse was a mezzanine floor spanning 130m x 45m. Due to restrictions imposed by our client, GSS had to avoid all hot works, meaning a more traditional and time-consuming deconstruction. During the deconstruction GSS had 3 forklift trucks working around the clock, moving the waste to a secure area to be sorted and loaded into 40yd ROROs. 

Demolition of 2 standalone office structures – GSS operatives split into 2 teams to tackle the demolition of the office structures. Located approximately 500m from each other the logistical challenges where further complicated by the extremely close proximity to the Fire control unit for the entire BHX2 compound. This meant that everything had to run perfectly, dust control was of paramount importance as to not activate the fire suppression systems and force the closure of the entire unit, costing the client millions in downtime.

GSS completed this project early and with 0 reportable injuries or instances, GSS was awarded a ‘Green Card’ for our “exceptional attention to Health & Safety while exhibiting unwavering professionalism and adaptability”
