\n…and redefines the Great British Pub as
\nthe place to have your best reading yet!
\nI must confess I was feeling rather
\nself-conscious walking into a pub
\non my own. I\u2019d been having visions
\nof asking at the bar whether I was
\nin the right place and receiving
\nbemused looks in return, but it turns
\nout I needn\u2019t have worried. As soon as I
\nenter The Chequers pub, a charming \u2018olde
\nworlde\u2019 pub in Hertfordshire, local to me,
\nI see a large banner welcoming guests
\nfor \u2018Psychic Destiny Psychic Nights\u2019.
\nFour tables to the side of the bar area are
\nadorned with brightly coloured metallic
\ncloths, psychics with stacks of cards and
\nsmall crystal balls, all welcoming me in.
\nThe host psychic Eleanor Grace (of no
\nrelation to me!) greets me with a warm
\nsmile and exudes confidence.
\nSocial setting
\nEleanor has been working as a medium
\nand clairvoyant for thirty years, and
\nit\u2019s clear she knows her stuff. My first
\nquestion is about the choice of venue \u2013
\nI had wondered if pubs are rather \u2018low
\nvibrational\u2019 for spiritual energy. Eleanor
\nexplains that her clientele, 75% female,
\nenjoy being able to just rock up to the pub.

\nhave always felt connected to) was there

\nhave four children \u2013 I do \u2013 and she picks
\nup on my sportiest son who is extremely
