We take care of asbestos materials that do not need a licence to remove but still need handling the right way. It might not be high risk on paper, but we treat every job with the same care. No shortcuts. No guessing. Just safe removal done properly.
Non licensed asbestos removal covers materials where the asbestos is firmly bound and less likely to release fibres when handled carefully. Common examples include cement sheets, floor tiles, bitumen based products and textured coatings like Artex. This kind of work does not need a special licence, but it still carries risk if not done properly. If these materials are broken up or removed without the right precautions, they can still release dangerous fibres.
At Bingley Demo, we treat it with the same care as any asbestos job. We assess the site, plan the work and follow all HSE guidance. Whether it is part of a demolition or just a one off job, we handle removal safely and dispose of the waste through the correct licensed routes. We also sort the paperwork—method statements, waste transfer notes, and any compliance info you need. And if you are not sure what you are dealing with, we can help arrange testing before anything gets disturbed.
Jobs often include:
We wear the right PPE, seal the area, control the dust, and document everything from start to finish.
Non licensed does not mean low risk. One of the biggest problems is when people assume it is safe just because a licence is not needed. But poor handling still puts people at risk, especially if materials are cracked, damaged, or broken up without the right controls in place.
We have seen jobs where someone tried to remove it themselves and ended up spreading contamination across the whole site. Cleaning up after that takes longer and costs more than getting it done properly from the start.
We make sure everything is thought through. Where the waste is going. How we are stopping fibres from escaping. How we are keeping others on site protected. We use the right protective equipment, seal off the area if needed, and double bag all waste before taking it to a licensed transfer station.
If there is any uncertainty about a material, we can arrange for samples to be tested first. It is always better to know for sure than to risk disturbing something dangerous. For us, it comes down to proper planning and doing the job right the first time.
This project required a full soft strip of internal units, removing all mechanical and electrical installations, asbestos roof sheets, and controlled demolition back to slab. The works were carried out by a team of eight operatives, using two scissor lifts and a 13-tonne excavator fitted with a shear attachment.
Health and safety were central throughout the works. Licensed asbestos removal procedures were followed in accordance with regulations, ensuring safe handling despite challenging weather conditions. Proximity to the Network Rail boundary required additional planning and precautions; the team dismantled the high blockwork wall adjacent to the fence by hand from scissor lifts to avoid risk of debris. Only once this was complete did the excavator continue with the remaining demolition, supported by two experienced banksmen.
The works were delivered on time and without incident, with all demolition completed safely despite difficult site conditions. The client commended the team for their careful planning, safe execution, and effective use of resources.
